Sasha’s Wisdom - The Flow of Prayer and Yoga Brings New Perspective

LoadingBy member Pam Levine

This morning I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Sasha Malamud at (7:45AM) at Pier 46, Hudson River Park at Charles St for a gentle and transformative half hour of movement and prayer.

Sasha in her warm manner led us through a standard, somewhat abbreviated, weekday morning service sequence of prayers and hymns. She has added Yoga and Thai Chi movements that she feels enhances the feeling of each prayer.

The service was done standing; quietly stretching and waking our bodies as we recited grateful prayers for restoring our souls, our minds, appreciating our freedom, our religion, the universe and more. Thanking God for the new day, breathing, bringing awareness to our organs, our health. Enlightenment; opening our hearts and Jewish souls. We silently recited the Mourners Kaddish, remembering our loved ones who have passed on.

The Sh’ma was mixed in there too. We ended with Od Yavo Shalom Aleinu. All the while, facing the river with a slight breeze.

I invite you to come Thursday mornings, experience a new mindset and open your heart with us. It’s quick, free and “priceless”.
